Downhill World Champion Franjo von Allmen won the gold medal in the Men’s Downhill at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. He completed a flawless run from start to finish at the Stelvio course in Bormio, defeating Italy's Giovanni Franzoni and Dominik Paris to claim Switzerland's first gold of the Milano Cortina Games.

The Women's Downhill event will be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, on the mythical Olympia delle Tofane slope. The Olympia delle Tofane, known as the "Queen of Speed," is one of the most iconic slopes in the world for its technical complexity and the dramatic natural scenery of the Dolomites.

Downhill is considered the premier discipline and is the longest and, after the Slalom, second-oldest alpine skiing competition. Due to the high speeds involved, Downhill is by far the most risky discipline. Downhill emphasizes "the six components of technique, courage, speed, risk, physical condition, and judgement", according to the FIS International Ski Competition Rules.

Downhill World Champion Franjo Von Allmen won the sixth race of the Alpine Ski World Cup Downhill season in Crans Montana. Today, the 24-year-old talent secured his second Downhill win of the winter season, bringing his total Alpine Ski World Cup victories to five. Dominik Paris finished in second place, 0.65 seconds behind the Swiss skier, while US skier Ryan Cochran-Siegle placed third, 0.70 seconds behind.

The Alpine Ski World Cup returns to Crans Montana next Sunday with a Downhill. The event will take place on a demanding Nationale course starting from Bella Lui, just like the legendary Downhill at the 1987 Alpine World Ski Championships.

Next Friday and Saturday, the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup is back to Crans Montana with two days of action: a Downhill and a Super-G.

The Swiss Downhill skiers confirmed in Wengen their current dominance in the discipline on home turf. Marco Odermatt not only claimed his third victory of the season in the Downhill after his wins in Beaver Creek and Val Gardena, but also gave the Swiss their fourth win in the fourth race of the Alpine Ski World Cup season. He finished 0.79 seconds ahead of Vincent Kriechmayr and 0.90 seconds ahead of yesterday's Super-G winner Giovanni Franzoni.

The weekend at the Tarvisio "Di Prampero" racecourse begins with a big surprise. The 30-year-old Italian skier Nicol Delago won the Alpine Ski World Cup Downhill in Tarvisio, finishing 0.20 seconds ahead of Kira Weidle-Winkelmann and 0.26 seconds ahead of Lindsey Vonn.

The 96 International Lauberhorn Alpine Ski World Cup Races will take place in Wengen, Switzerland, on January 16-18, 2026.

After a fifteen-year absence, Tarvisio is set to host the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup once again. For the fourth time in history, Tarvisio is set to be a key stage in the 2025-2026 SWorld Cup circuit. In 2026, the highly anticipated speed events, traditionally held in Cortina d’Ampezzo, will take place on the spectacular Di Prampero slope.

Lindsey Vonn won the Alpine Ski World Cup downhill in Zauchensee, marking her 5th podium finish of the season in six speed races. Kajsa Vickhoff Lie finished in second position, 0.37 seconds behind Vonn, to achieve her first podium in the 2025-2026 Alpine Ski World Cup season. Vonn's teammate Jacqueline Wiles rounded up the podium in 3rd place, 0.48 seconds behind the winner.

The Swiss Downhillers stood out as an unmatched team in their own league. Italian Florian Schieder finished in third place, 0.98 seconds behind Von Allmen.

Cornelia Huetter celebrated her first Alpine Ski World Cup victory of the season in Val d'Isere. Thanks to a perfect Downhill line, she beat Kira Weidle-Winkelmann by 0.26 seconds. Lindsey Vonn finished third, 0.35 seconds behind the Austrian.

The Swiss team celebrated a remarkable 1-2 victory in the Alpine Ski World Cup Downhill in Val Gardena. Marco Odermatt finished first, 0.15 seconds ahead of Franjo Von Allmen. Dominik Paris rounded up the podium 0.19 seconds behind Odermatt. It’s Odermatt’s second victory at the Saslong racecourse.

"The Critérium de la Première Neige à Val d'Isere", a key stop on the Alpine Ski World Cup calendar, will host a Women’s Downhill and Super-G events on 16th and 17th December 2023 in the Oreiller-Killy racecourse.
