Marco Odermatt claimed his third consecutive Alpine Ski World Cup Downhill Crystal Globe. The last Swiss skier to win the Downhill Crystal Globe before Odermatt was Beat Feuz, who won four between 2017-2018 and 2020-2021.
During this season, the 28-year-old Swiss ski champion secured a podium finish in the Downhill eight times out of nine races, achieving four victories in Beaver Creek, Val Gardena, Wengen, and Garmisch Partenkirchen.
Marco Odermatt won the Downhill title with a total of 706 points. Teammate Franjo Von Allmen (515) and Italian Dominik Paris (441) finished in second and third place in the Downhill standings.
Switzerland has dominated the Men's Downhill again, securing 13 of the 27 available podium places. Odermatt and his teammates won six of the nine Downhill races this season. A Swiss skier stepped onto the podium in 23 consecutive Downhill World Cup races, the longest streak for the team and second
all-time longest. The longest ever streak of 33 consecutive Downhill World Cup podiums belongs to team Austria (2002/03-2005/06).
