After more than three years and a serious injury, Elena Curtoni returned to the top of the podium in an Alpine Ski World Cup event in Val di Fassa. The last time she won a race was in a Downhill in St. Moritz in December 2022.

The 35-year-old Italian skier, with bib number 8, won the third race held in Val di Fassa thanks to a flawless run and claimed her fourth World Cup victory. Kajsa Vickhoff Lie finished in second place, 0.26 seconds behind Curtoni.

The ecstasy of the Italian fans was complete when, wearing number 33, the 29-year-old Italian skier, Asja Zenere, finished in third place, achieving her first podium finish in the World Cup. Her best result to date had been a ninth-place finish in the Giant Slalom at Copper Mountain in November.

After today's 9th place, Sofia Goggia is leading in the Super-G standings with 449 points. Alice Robinson is second with 386, and Emma Aicher is third with 304. Emma Aicher, considered one of the biggest favorites before the race, did not finish and lost her chance to win the Super-G Crystal Globe.

Alice Robinson's fourth-place finish has narrowed the gap to Sofia Goggia by 21 points, leaving Robinson just 63 points behind as they head into the Alpine Ski World Cup Finals. A victory in Lillehammer would enable Robinson to surpass Goggia if the Italian finishes no higher than seventh place. If Robinson finishes second, she will need Goggia to place outside the top 14.

Mikaela Shiffrin, who started with number 31, benefited from Aicher's DNF, but could only score eight points after finishing in 23rd place. The 30-year-old ski ace is now leading the overall standings with 1141 points. Emma Aicher (1016 points) is second, 125 points behind. Camille Rast is in third place with 963 points.
