Marco Odermatt won his third Alpine Ski World Cup Giant Slalom race of the season, his 5th consecutive victory in Adelboden. Lucas Pinheiro Braathen finished in third place, 0.49 seconds behind Odermatt. Leo Anguenot took third place, finishing 0.68 seconds behind the winner.
Marco Odermatt has made history by becoming the first skier to win the Adelboden Giant Slalom five consecutive times, surpassing the legendary Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden. Stenmark previously held the record with four straight wins from 1979 to 1982, totaling five victories in the event.
"Every win here is complicated; each one has its own story. The visibility and the weather didn't make it any easier. Five wins in a row are already amazing," Odermatt said.
Odermatt's victory makes the 46th Giant Slalom podium of his career, tying him with Michael von Gruenigen and Vreni Schneider as the Swiss skiers with the most career Giant Slalom World Cup podiums in history.
He is now in 3rd place on the list of all-time Giant Slalom World Cup men’s podiums. Ingemar Stenmark leads the list with 72 career Top-3 finishes, followed by Marcel Hirscher in second with 59.
