Lindsey Vonn won the Alpine Ski World Cup Downhill in a shortened Kälberloch course in Zauchensee, marking her second victory and fifth podium finish of the season in six speed races (she finished fourth in the Super-G in St. Moritz). She made it onto the podium in all four Downhill races this season.
Kajsa Vickhoff Lie finished in second position, 0.37 seconds behind Vonn, to achieve her first podium in the 2025-2026 Alpine Ski World Cup season and 9th World Cup podium of her career.
Vonn's teammate Jacqueline Wiles rounded up the podium in third place, 0.48 seconds behind the winner, to claim her fourth World Cup podium.
This is Lindsey Vonn's third downhill win in Zauchensee, following her victories in 2011 and 2016. With this victory, the 41-year-old US skier celebrated her 84th win in the Alpine Ski World Cup, her 45th in the downhill category, and her 143rd podium overall. Vonn's podium in Zauchensee makes her the third Alpine skier to reach 70 podiums in a single discipline after Ingemar Stenmark (81 in Slalom and 72 in Giant Slalom) and Mikaela Shiffrin (94 in Slalom).
The double podium in Zauchensee means that the USA has become the fourth nation to reach 250 podium finishes in women's and men's Downhill skiing, following Austria (919), Switzerland (673), and Italy (279).
Vonn extended her lead in the discipline standings with 340 points, opening a substantial gap over Emma Aicher (216) and Cornelia Hütter (175).
"I honestly thought that with my start number, I had no chance, because there was so much snow and there wasn’t really a track. I'm happy with the way I executed, and that's the most important thing I'm taking away from today. I executed exactly the game plan that I wanted," Vonn said.
