The weekend at the Tarvisio "Di Prampero" racecourse begins with a big surprise. The 30-year-old Italian skier Nicol Delago won the Alpine Ski World Cup Downhill in Tarvisio, finishing 0.20 seconds ahead of Kira Weidle-Winkelmann and 0.26 seconds ahead of Lindsey Vonn. Delago has achieved her sixth podium in the World Cup, with five of those being in the Downhill event. The last time she finished on the podium was during the Downhill event at the Alpine Ski World Cup Finals in Saalbach, which took place on March 23, 2024.
Lindsey Vonn is the only skier to make the podium in all five women’s Downhill races this season. The last time Vonn achieved five consecutive Downhill podiums was in the 2017-2018 winter season. The 41-year-old US skier has finished on the podium in three of the four Downhill events held in Tarvisio. Previously, she finished second in Tarvisio in 2009 and 2011.
