Dominik Paris celebrated his first victory of the season in the Downhill on one of his favorite courses in the Alpine Ski World Cup, with a lead of 32 hundredths of a second over Marco Odermatt. Paris won a race on the Olympiabakken for the fifth time (four Downhills 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025 and a Super-G in 2019). Behind Odermatt, Stefan Rogentin, world champion Franjo von Allmen and Alexis Monney confirmed the Swiss dominance in the Downhill with third to fifth places.
After today's win, the 35-year-old speed specialist joins Peter Müller in second place on the all-time Downhill winners list with 19 World Cup wins. Franz Klammer remains ahead with 25 victories.
"I just feel good here. I'm glad that it worked out again. It’s a bit technique. You have to be very smooth and yeah, I know the key section. That makes it a bit easier. The conditions were difficult, the wind keeps blowing and you don't know if everything will hold. You have to work from top to bottom and the weather has to play along," Paris said.
After second place today, Marco Odermatt is now leading the Downhill standings by 103 points. He is guaranteed the Downhill title if he finishes ahead of teammate Franjo von Allmen.
Odermatt now leads the overall World Cup by 440 points ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen. Since the Norwegian technical specialist only has four races left, the Swiss can no longer be denied the Overall title and he wins it for the fourth time in a row.
