Mikaela Shiffrin Crushes the Competition in Spindleruv Mlyn and Clinches the Slalom Crystal Globe

In another remarkable performance, Mikaela Shiffrin triumphs by over one second in the Slalom at the Alpine Ski World Cup in Spindleruv Mlyn. Camille Rast finished in second place, 1.67 seconds behind Shiffrin. Emma Aicher rounded out the podium in third place, 1.33 seconds behind the Swiss. The 30-year-old was already comfortably in the lead by 1.26 seconds after the first run, and in the second run she extended her advantage even further with another fastest time.
The US skier secured her seventh victory of the season and her ninth Slalom Crystal Globe. In the Slalom World Cup standings, Shiffrin leads Rast by 288 points with only two races remaining in Åre and Hafjell. She surpassed today Lindsey Vonn (8 Downhill titles and is leading the discipline standings and could claim her ninth Crystal Globe this season), and Ingemar Stenmark (Slalom and Giant Slalom), who hold eight discipline Globes.
Mikaela Shiffrin now has 17 Crystal Globes: 5 Overall, 9 in Slalom, 2 in Giant Slalom, and 1 in Super-G.
Today's win marked her 108th career World Cup victory and her 71st in Slalom.
