Sofia Goggia won the second Super-G of the Alpine Ski World Cup season in Val d'Isere. The 33-year-old Italian skier imposes her all-out style at the OK course today to win her first World Cup race of the 2025-2026 winter season. Alice Robinson finished in second position, 0.15 seconds behind Goggia, to achieve her 5th podium in the 2025-2026 Alpine Ski World Cup season. Lindsey Vonn rounded up the podium in third place, 0.36 seconds behind the winner. It's Vonn's first podium in Super-G this season.
Sofia Goggia celebrated her first victory since the Downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo in January. She has won 8 Super-G races and has achieved 65 podiums in the Alpine Ski World Cup. This marks her second victory in the Super-G event at Val d'Isere, following her win in December 2021. Goggia has achieved four wins and five World Cup podiums in Val d’Isere.
"I’m a bit surprised to be first. I still had quite a lot in reserve; I skied the line far too smoothly. I didn’t think it would be enough. I’m happy with my run. Yesterday was very emotional; I was really angry. Today I did what I had to do. If you want to win, you have to push," said Goggia.
With a first place in St. Moritz in the Opening Super-G of the season and a second place today, Robinson leads the discipline standings ahead of Sofia Goggia.
"It's an incredible result, I'm really happy. I enjoy competing in two disciplines and spreading the pressure. I also have a lot of confidence," Robinson said.
Lindsey Vonn achieved her fourth podium finish of the season in five speed races within the last 10 days, marking a remarkable comeback.
"All in all, I'm not disappointed in my skiing. Yesterday I made a mistake; today, I just had the wrong direction, but it wasn't really a mistake, so I'm happy with it. It's really hard to always be on the podium, so I'm walking away with a smile," Vonn said.
